Introducing Ushuru: file your KRA taxes from WhatsApp
We built a friendly AI agent that reconciles and files your Kenya Revenue Authority income-tax return — right inside the app you already use all day.
Filing tax shouldn't feel like a punishment
Karibu. Today we're launching Ushuru AI — a WhatsApp agent that helps ordinary Kenyans file their KRA income-tax returns without the cyber-café queues, the confusing spreadsheets, or the quiet dread that you've done it wrong.
You message us the way you'd message a friend. We read your documents, work out exactly where you stand, show you the numbers, and — once you say go — file the return for you on iTax.
How it works
- Say hi on WhatsApp. Tell us you want to file.
- Forward your documents. Your autopopulated ITR, your P9, any withholding certificates. We'll tell you what's missing.
- See your real position. We reconcile everything against KRA's own records and show you a single clear number — a top-up to pay or a refund you're owed.
- Approve, then lipa na M-Pesa. You only pay our flat fee once you've reviewed the numbers and told us to file.
A few things we believe
- Checking should be free. You shouldn't pay a shilling just to find out where you stand. Reconciliation is free; you only pay when you file.
- We never invent figures. Every number is reconciled against KRA's records, not guessed.
- We're independent. Ushuru is not affiliated with or endorsed by KRA. You remain the taxpayer in charge of your return — we just make it painless.
About the 2026 amnesty
If you've got back-years hanging over you, the timing matters. KRA's amnesty waives penalties and interest on periods up to 31 December 2025 if you pay the principal by 31 December 2026. We'll show you exactly what to clear to qualify. Read more in Understanding the 2026 tax amnesty.
